Overview
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is one of the most famous and designated diplomae of dentists (medical doctors). The BDS (Bachelor of Dental surgery) is an educational course of dental surgery in India. It is equivalent to the MBBS and owes the “Dr.” domain. In the medical educational area, it is the second preference of the scholars after the MBBS course.
In this course, the scholars are taught about the dental problems, denture, and surgery. It has various job options in health centers, pharmaceuticals and medical device manufacturing industries.
The BDS diploma is awarded on the success of completion of the 4 years academic education and the one-year mandatory internship programme in dentistry education leading to the Bachelor of Dental surgery Diploma programme. After completing your BDS, you are qualified to practice as a Dentist.
Courses & Eligibility
The educational qualifications required for the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) are as follows:
- The student must have passed the 10+2 exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and English in the 12th stream.
- It is the course which will be having hands-on training in the area of dentistry for the duration of 5 years. The scholars will get the chance to have interaction with the patient and will get the practical information of the illness.
- The scholars must score minimum 50% marks (40% in the case of reserved category) in 10+2 and have to appear for a front examination conducted by the respective government.
