About Exam

Common Entrance Exam for Design is a common entrance examination for admission to Master of Design and Ph.D (Design) programmes at various IITs, IISc Bangalore and also other institutes. The objective of CEED is to assess a candidate’s aptitude for design involving visual perception ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity, etc. Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay conducts Common Entrance.

Eligibility

The required eligibility criteria for this examination is given below:

  • Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT or equivalent of 4 years programme after 10+2)
  • B.F.A. (4-year professional programme, after 10+2)
  • G.D. Art (5-year programme after 10th) with one-year post-qualification professional experience
  • Master’s degree in Arts/ Science/ Computer Applications (2 year programme after 10+2+3)
  • Final year students about to graduate in any of the above courses are also eligible to apply provided they show proof of passing during admissions.
  • Important: Any three years’ Bachelor’s degree is not eligible
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Architecture/Design/Interior Design or equivalent (4 years programme after 10+2)

  • Applicants must note that application fee of CEED was non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Mode of payment of the fee: could pay the application fee via credit card/ debit card/ net banking.

Application Procedure

This is the procedure to apply online:

  • Applicants need to create a login ID where they need to enter details such as their: email address, name, date of birth, gender, address, mobile number, and password.
  • Aspirants need to fill the below-mentioned details in their CEED registration form.
  • Upload file containing a recent colored photograph.
  • Scanned copy of the signature
  • Scanned copy of degree/diploma certificate if the course is completed.
  • Aspirants need to pay the application fee in order to successfully register for CEED entrance exam.
  • After successfully submitting their details as well as paying the application fee, candidates should take a clear print of their duly filled application form and keep it with them for further use.

Exam Pattern

The pattern of the exam will be as given below for this CEED: 

Part A:

Part A is an online test with a total of 100 marks.

It contains 3 sections as given below:

  • Section I (overall 30 marks) carries a total of 10 Numerical answer type (NAT) questions. For those questions, the solution is a number of that needs to be entered using the virtual keyboard on the monitor. No alternatives will be shown for those questions. Each correct solution will be awarded three marks. Questions not attempted will be awarded zero marks. There's NO Negative Marking for this section or partial marking for this section.
  • Section II (overall 20 marks) carries a total of 10 Multiple Select Questions (MCQs). Each MSQ has 4 selections of which one or more is/are the correct answer(s). Applicant receives 2 marks only if she/he choose all the correct answers for a given MSQ. Questions not attempted will be awarded zero marks. There is NO Negative Marking for this section or partial marking for this section.
  • Section III (overall 50 marks) carries 25 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each MCQ has 4 choices of which only one is the right answer. In this section, each accurate answer will be awarded 2 marks and Negative Marking applies in this section, so each wrong answer will be awarded -0.6 marks. Questions not attempted will be awarded zero marks.

Part B:

Part B consist of a total of 100 marks.

It contains 8 questions.

  • You may choose to answer any ONE of Questions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Questions 6, 7 and 8 are mandatory.
  • Additional instructions to Part B questions are provided in the answer book.
  • In Part B, color pencils, crayons, sketch pens etc. may be used unless otherwise specified in the questions.

A. No. You are advised to keep the printout of filled-in application for further use.

A. You can expect your admit card by the third week of December. You can obtain it from the official website.

A. Online mode is available for making payment through your credit card/debit card and net banking.

Cut-Offs

The cut off's for CEED 2018 of Part A & Part B is as follows:

Part B answer books will be evaluated manually for the applicants who are shortlisted from Part A.

Only Part B scores will be used for preparing the list of qualified applicants (merit list) in CEED.

Selection Procedure

The applicants who clear the CEED Result with the minimum marks will be required to qualify for the CEED Selection Process.

Once a candidate successfully clears the counseling process, the particular candidate will be selected based on three stages. The candidates have to pass through three stages for admissions in the desired programme. The three stages/screens are as follows:

 

1. CEED Score Screening

2. Design Aptitude Test

3. Interview

 

Documents to be Carried

Necessary documents which are required to be carried for CEED are as follows:

  • Recent Photograph: After scanning and in the .jpg file format
  • Scanned copy of Signature in the .jpg file format
  • Scanned copy of Academic Records / Certificates
  • Certificate of Category Sc / St / OBC NCL: Scan and save it in .pdf file format. Certificate for OBC NCL will be accepted if issued after April 1, 2016.
  • Marriage Certificate or scanned page of passport showing the change of name (.pdf format)
  • Bank Account Information / Credit Card / Debit Card
