About Exam

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection is a government organization which possesses the obligation regarding the recruitment of applicants in Banks as an Officer or Non-Officer. IBPS Clerk is an exam that is led by IBPS for the recruitment process for the selection of personnel at the Clerical cadre level. The recruitment in the IBPS Clerk exam will depend upon the requirement of the participating institutions. The IBPS Clerk examination comprises of two basic composed exams (CWE): IBPS Clerk Prelims exam and the IBPS Clerk Mains exam. 

Eligibility

The applicant who is interested in applying for the IBPS Clerk exam has to pass the eligibility criteria that are defined by the conducting authorities: 

  • Score Criteria: Applicant should have passed 10+2 or pre-degree with minimum of 60% marks.
  • Citizenship Criteria: Applicant should be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Educational Criteria: Applicant should hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized University or equivalent in any discipline.
  • Age Criteria: Applicants age must not be more than 30 years and less than 20 years at the time of registration.
  • Other Criteria: Applicant in the final year of their bachelor's program or with awaiting results are not eligible.

Application Procedure

These are the procedure that should be followed to apply for this exam.

  • To apply, go to the official website of IBPS.
  • After registration, the applicant will get a provisional registration by SMS and on their email ID as well.
  • The applicant can log in using the provisional registration number. They will have to upload a photograph and signature as per the specified format.
  • Once the applicant has clicked on the 'FINAL SUBMIT' button, no changed can be made.
  • The application form is integrated with the payment option and the payment process can be completed by following the instructions.
  • The payment can be made by using Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets by providing information as asked on the screen.
  • After Final Submit, an additional page of the application form is displayed wherein applicants may follow the instructions and fill in the requisite details.
  • Applicants are required to take a print of the e-receipt. Generation of the e-receipt in itself is proof that the fee has been successfully submitted. 

Exam Pattern

IBPS Clerk is an online examination and is conducted in two tiers-

1. IBPS Clerk Prelims:

  • There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. 
  • No marks will be given or deducted for unattempted questions in the IBPS clerk exam.
  • The total duration of the test is 1 hour. The applicants must clear the cut off in each section individually.

2. IBPS Clerk Mains

  • The total duration of the test will be 2 hours and 40 minutes.
  • There has been a slight change in the pattern of the Mains exam this year.
  •  A time limit has been imposed for each section. 
  • The applicant will not be able to move on to the next section till the time limit for that section has elapsed.
  • All the sections in the Main exam except for the General English section will be available bilingually i.e both Hindi and English.

Q) Is the examination bilingual?

Ans. Yes. The paper is conducted in both Hindi and English.

Q) Is there a fixed time in which a section has to be attempted?

Ans. There is no sectional time limit in prelims. But, there is a stipulated time for each section in the mains examination.

Q) Is there any negative marking?

Ans. Yes. 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

Q) Will there be an interview after the result of IBPS Clerk Main exam?

Ans. No, there will not be an interview for the selected candidates of the Main exam.

Cut-Offs

Cut-offs can help an applicant to get an idea so that a minimum benchmark of the score can be set up that an applicant needs to get to clear the exam.
