SBI PO 2018 Prelims Exam Syllabus:

English Language

English section in SBI PO Prelims consists of following topics: 

  • Reading Comprehension
  • Para Jumbles
  • Cloze Test
  • Grammar
  • Paragraph Completion

Quantitative Aptitude 

The Quant section consists of questions from the following topics - Arithmetic, Algebra, Probability, Permutations & Combinations, Data Interpretation. Since our primary focus is on clearing the cut-offs, let's classify the topics into various difficulty levels considering average time spent to solve the questions. 

Easy - Quadratic Equations, Simplifications and Approximations, Number Series, Time and Work 

Moderate - Data Interpretation, Percentages, Ratio & Proportions, Profit and Loss, SI & CI

Difficult - Time Speed & Distance, Pipes and Cisterns,  Mixtures, Mensuration

Make sure you complete practicing all the easy category questions first which will give you ample time to work on weak areas. Analyze your performance regularly. 

Reasoning Ability

Reasoning section sees an increase in the number of questions which makes it a crucial section for optimum scoring. Let us classify the topics using a similar approach

Easy - Series, Analogies, Odd Pair, Directions, Numbers & Rankings, Dictionary Test

Moderate - Syllogisms, Blood Relations, Seating Arrangements, Data Sufficiency, Computer Knowledge

Difficult - Coding-Decoding, Input-Output machine, Complex puzzles 

Though the topics are few, Reasoning is a vast section with various models in each section. Practice as many as you can, take sectional tests frequently and keep giving full length tests.

Data Analysis & Interpretation

The candidate's analytical skills are put to test with the section being dominated by a lot of data based questions. The following topics come under this section - 

Data Interpretation - Bar Graph, Line Graph, Pie chart, Tabular Graph, Radar Graph, Caselet, Missing case

Miscellaneous - Data sufficiency, probability, Permutations & Combinations, Arithmetic
