Students appearing for JEE Main 2020 will be allowed to change their city of examination in the online application form, says NTA

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains) has been postponed due to COVID-19. The last date to edit all details in the form, including changing exam centers, is April 14, 2020. Candidates can avail this facility in the ongoing form correction window.

NTA will soon expand the correction facility in the online application of the JEE Main 2020 form to include the choice of cities for the center. The NTA has stated that it would make efforts to allot the cities of choice opted by the examines subject to the availability of capacity in the desired city. However, a different city than the one requested may be allotted, and the decision by NTA regarding this would be final, says the NTA notice shared by the HRD minister.

JEE Main 2020 : Allowed changing Examination Center

National Testing Agency (NTA) has brought a smile on the faces of all JEE Main 2020 candidates by allowing them to change their exam centers. The facility is now available at the form correction window from 9th to 14th April. Many students have moved to their native places from their place of coaching or study. Therefore students had been requesting NTA to allow them to change center cities. Now finally, they can change the exam cities in this five days correction window.


JEE Main 2020: Postponed, not canceled

Due to the unpredictable lockdown situation that is in the country, The National Testing Agency declares JEE Main 2020 has been postponed, not canceled.

JEE Main 2020 : Exam Date
After seeing the situation of coronavirus and lockdown, NTA will decide the new exam date.
Revised schedule will be announced on or after April 15, 2020, at jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Date wise latest notices on JEE Main 2020 are as follows.

  • 9th April – JEE Main 2020 center change allowed. 
  • 1st April – JEE Main 2020 application form correction available again regarding. 
  • 31st March – JEE Main 2020 new exam date and admit card release date regarding.
  • 18th March –  JEE Main 2020 postponed regarding. 

JEE Main 2020 : Preparation

Due to this lockdown situation, preparing for examination is different from normal preparation –

  • There is uncertainty about the exam date.
  • For some, board exams are pending (most national and state boards have postponed exams).
  • Preparation is now 100% self-studies based

Listed below are some tips to prepare in lockdown  for JEE Main 2020 –

  •  Remind yourself everyday that you want to crack JEE Main 2020.
  • Complete the syllabus, do revision, solve past year papers, sample papers, and take mock tests.
  • Practice discipline.

JEE Main 2020: Exam Pattern

Several changes are made by NTA to the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains). They are as follows.

  1. Now there is Paper 1 for engineering, one Paper 2 for B.Arch, and a separate Paper 2 for B.Plan. Earlier there used to be paper 1 for engineering, and paper 2 for B.Arch and B.Plan.
  2. Now there will be numerical value type questions in the exam. Earlier, all questions used to be objective. 
  3. The distribution of questions and marking scheme has changed. Now the marking scheme is +4, -1 for MCQs, and +4, 0 for numerical type questions. 
  4. Paper 1 will have 75 questions (60 MCQs + 15 Numerical) of 300 marks whereas last year it was 90 questions of 360 marks. 
  5. Paper 2 for B.Arch will have 25 (20 MCQ + 5 numerical), 50,  2 questions respectively from mathematics, aptitude test, drawing test. Whereas last year there were  30, 50, 3 questions respectively from mathematics, aptitude test, and drawing test.
  6. Paper 2 for B.Planning will have 25 (20 MCQs + 5 numerical), 50, 25 questions respectively on mathematics, aptitude test, planning based questions. Last year this paper did not exist.
  7. This year 2.5 lakh candidates will be declared eligible for JEE Advanced 2020 on the basis of JEE Mains. Last year the number was 2.4 lakh.

JEE Main 2020: Syllabus

Candidates should study all topics that are in the syllabus of JEE Main 2020. As for now, in this lockdown situation, the candidates can cover the left topics and have a revision. The list of topics is as follows. For sub-topics within the topics, candidates should download the complete syllabus. 

Mathematics: Sets relations and functions, Complex numbers and quadratic equations, matrices and determinants, Permutations and combinations, Mathematical induction, Binomial theorem, and its simple applications, Sequences and series, Limit continuity and differentiability, Integral calculus, Differential equations, Coordinate geometry, Three-dimensional geometry, Vector algebra, Statistics and probability, Trigonometry, Mathematical reasoning.

JEE Main 2020: Admit Card

NTA is expected to release the admit card at least 2 weeks prior to the exam at jeemain.nta.nic.in.

How to download the admit card?

  • To download the admit card/hall ticket, candidates will need to visit jeemain.nta.nic.in.
  • There, they have to click the relevant admit card download link. Note that although the hall ticket is released at login, it is not accessible via the candidate login link (which is active since the start of form submission to end of results); instead a separate link for admit card download is activated.
  • Then, they have login with the application number and date of birth.
  • Upon logging in, candidates will be able to get the admit card download link in their candidate dashboard and download it from there.
